My ELF Lipstick Collection (Part 2)

My ELF Lipstick Collection (Part two)

Hi guys! This is the second part of my two part ELF lipstick collection. In the first part of the collection, I talked about my ELF essential lipstick collection and in this part I will be talking about my ELF Moisturizing Lipstick.

Now, let me start by saying that of the two ELF lipstick lines that I have purchased, the Moisturizing Lipstick line is the more expensive and in my opinion, better of the two. My overall opinion of the line is that you are getting a quality lipstick for a very inexpensive line. The lipstick is creamy and extremely moisturizing on the lips. While the lipstick looks and applies like a lipstick, I would compare the feeling of wearing it to be more like wearing lip balm. I am in love with this lipsticks formulation.

The lipsticks that I own from this line are: In the Nude, Wink Pink, Southern Bell, Marsala Blush, and Ravishing Rose. I am going to be going through each shade of lipstick and giving you swatches, a color description, and a rating of 1-5, 5 being the best, 1 being the worst.

               Marsala Blush:

This lipstick is my second favorite of the line. Marsala Blush is a dusty rosy pink color that looks beautiful on almost any skin tone. 5/5 (LOVE)

               In the Nude:

This is my favorite lipstick of the line. I am a sucker for pink/brown lipsticks and this is the perfect combination of both. I will be honest, In the Nude is not nearly as brown in person as it is in the swatch in the picture. 5/5

               Ravishing Rose:

This is a very pretty dark, dusty rose color similar to Marsala Blush but with more red tones. 4/5

    Southern Bell:

This is a true pink dusty rose color, much lighter than both Marsala Blush and Ravishing rose. 5/5

   Wink Pink:

This is a beautiful pink color that compares to the essential lines color Classy but with deeper pink/brown tones to it. 3/5

My ELF Lipstick Collection (Part 1)

My Elf Lipstick Collection (Part one)

Hi guys! This is going to be the first part of a two part review series, (I tried to fit it all into one but it was too much to put into one post with all the swatches.)
Today I am going to be talking about my E.L.F. (eyes, lips, face) lipstick and lip care collection. Lately, E.L.F. has been getting a lot of recognition from the Youtube beauty community and after hearing about it for the millionth time from one of the many beauty tutorial channels that I am subscribed to, I decided to give it a try. Luckily for me, the day that I decided to make a purchase from E.L.F., they were having a fifty percent off sale, FIFTY PERCENT OFF! Needless to say, this ended up being a good enough excuse for me to justify spending $100 on makeup. I mean, technically I was getting $200 worth of product for only $100, right? Anyway, I ended up purchasing all the colors that were in stock in both their essential lipstick line and their moisturizing lipstick line along with their lip exfoliator and after using them for a few weeks I feel that I am ready to give you guys my opinion on the product.

The ELF Essential line:

I am going to start off with the essential lipstick line. The essential lipstick line usually goes for one dollar but because of the sale I paid fifty cents for each lipstick. The colors that I purchased were in this line were: Flirtatious, Seductive, Sociable, Nostalgic, Posh, Classy, and Fearless. I am going to go through and give you swatches and an individual review of each color but before I begin I wanted to give you all an overall impression of the entire line. I am going to start off by saying that the lipstick swatches much better on the hand than on the lips. On the hand, the colors appear to be very pigmented and even, but on the lips some of the colors do not appear as they do in the tube and can be patchy, or not show up at all. Now, I am not saying that the essential color line is a bad lipstick line, but that you should not expect it to compare to the more expensive lipstick that you have in your collection. You get what you pay for.

The first shade that I want to talk about is Nostalgic:

Nostalgic is a light, pinky nude color. Nostalgic is one of those colors that appear do not appear the same in the tube as they do on the lips. 1/5

  The second shade is Classy:

Classy is a pretty bubble gum pink color. This color appears in the tube the same as it does on the lips. 4/5

 The third shade is Flirtatious:

Flirtatious is a Barbie pink color. The only issue that I have with this color is that you have to be careful building it up because it can start to look cakey. 2/5

         The fourth shade is Sociable:

Sociable is a true hot pink color. Sociable is one of my favorite colors in the line because it looks exactly like it does in the tube when it’s on the lips. This color is creamy but not cakey. 4/5

           The fifth shade is Seductive:

I LOVE this color, it’s a mauve, nude pink. This color is my absolute favorite shade in the line. It is creamy and a little bit sheer. This is an amazing lipstick for such a small price. 5/5

    The sixth shade is fearless:

I do not personally like this color. When I first applied this color I was expecting a true red color but the color that shows up on the lips is a dark red pink color. 2/5

      The seventh shade is posh:

This is another one of my favorites. Posh is a cool red/pink color and appears on the lips exactly as it does in the tube. 4/5

The Best of theBalm

My Top Six From theBalm Cosmetics

Hi guys! Today I wanted to take a second to talk to you guys about the top six favorite products that I have tried from theBalm. If you do not already know, theBalm is a beauty brand that is best known for their cosmetics but they also sell nail polish, skin care products, and hair care products. You can find theBalm products at Nordstrom, Kohls, Hautelook, and theBalm.com.

I first purchased these products a few months ago when I saw one of my favorite youtubers, LoeyLane bring the brand up in a haul video and let me tell you, it was so worth it! I have LOVED every product that I have tried from theBalm, their eye shadow is super buttery and pigmented, their lipstick smells amazing and goes on the lips like a dream, and don’t get me started on their highlighters, they’re TO DIE FOR.

Speaking of highlighters, my number one Product from theBalm is their ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ highlighter. This highlighter is a must have in your collection if you have light to medium tone skin. ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ gives you a great highlight with just a little bit of product, looks natural over my very dry skin and stays all day even without my Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’ spray. My only downside to this product would be that like most highlighters, it is shimmery so you might not be a fan of it if you are afraid of a little shimmer.

Next, I have my eye shadow products from theBalm. Let me start by saying that I am in love with the consistency of theBalm’s eye shadows’, especially their white eye shadow, it is so creamy and buttery and not at all chalky like some eye shadow can tend to be. First up, I have my ‘Meet Matt(e) Nude’ pallet. The ‘Meet Matt(e) Nude’ pallet is theBalm’s nude matte eye shadow pallet. The main thing that I love about this particular pallet is the amount of product that you get out of it which I would say is almost triple the amount of product that you get out of other eye shadow pallets from this brand. Just like all of the other eye shadows’ from theBalm, this pallet is adorably packaged and they continue the Matt theme on the inside of the packaging as well with eye shadows’ with names such as Matt Johnson and Matt Garcia.

The third item in my top six from theBalm is my “Nude’tude’ pallet. Again, this pallet’s packaging is absolutely adorable, the outside features a sepia bedroom and makeup vanity and on the inside is six nude cartoon women with the actual eye shadow covering everything but their belly button, arms, face, and a small part of their legs. Just like with the ‘Meet Matt(e) Nude’ pallet, this eye shadow is awesome and I find myself reaching for it daily.

The fourth product in my top six is my ‘Nude Dude’ pallet once again, I am very impressed with the consistency of the eye shadow itself but and I love that a lot of the shadows are cooler toned because the majority of the nude eye shadow in my collection is warmer toned and it allows me to mix it up every now and then. The packaging of the ‘Nude Dude’ pallet is very similar the “Nude’tude’ pallet on the inside which makes sense because it is the second installment in theBalm’s Nude series. On the outside of the pallet, strangely enough features a pin-up woman with a light pink background. On the inside, there is as expected, nude dudes. This time, the nude dudes are wearing white towels around their waist and once again the shadows are covering their chest area and their waist area. Once again, I absolutely love theBalm’s eye shadows and would recommend them to anyone looking to expand their collection.

Next up, I have my personal favorite shade theBalm’s blush, ‘Hot Mama’. Just like the ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ highlighter, the ‘Hot Mama’ blush is shimmery so if you are eerie of shimmer, I would recommend staying away from this shade of blush. This blush gives the cheeks a wonderful glowing quality when applied and it’s deep pink/gold color is great for all seasons. Once again, this color is very pigmented and goes, on very smoothly and is an absolute must have for your collection.

Last but not least, my number six top product from theBalm is my lipstick in the shade ‘Foxxy Pout.’ This particular shade is deep red and has a slight gold shimmer to it. I personally love the smell of this brand of lipstick, it is has this eucalyptus smell to it that gives the lips a cooling affect. The down side to this lipstick is that it goes on to the lips a lot like a matte lipstick so it clings to any cracks or bumps on your lips. I would defiantly recommend exfoliating your lips before applying the product.

That wraps up my top six products from theBalm. I hope that you guys found this helpful. If you would like a further review on any of the products that I mentioned above please leave me a comment with the product that you would like me to review.
